Our Massage Philosophy

Whether you’re seeking deep tissue work, soothing stone massage therapy, lymphatic support, or a quick chair massage reset, our team provides thoughtful, professional care in a calm, grounded environment. We welcome guests from Stevensville, the Bitterroot Valley, and Missoula, MT who want massage that feels good in the moment and makes daily life easier afterward. Massage therapy is safe and effective for people of all ages and is increasingly viewed as an important tool in promoting both mental and physical health.

Massage at Lavana Connection blends clinical awareness with genuine nurturing. Our approach is informed by clinical practice guidelines and incorporates complementary therapies to support holistic health. Your massage therapist considers tension patterns, posture, lifestyle, and stress levels, then selects the right techniques and tools, ranging from Swedish and deep tissue to bamboo, stones, and lymphatic work, to support you that day.

Before each session, we review your goals and health history, clarify pressure preferences, and discuss any areas that need extra care or extra caution. All our therapists have completed comprehensive massage training and hold specialized certifications to ensure safe and effective treatments.

Custom Massage – Tailored to You

Our Custom Massage sessions are the foundation of our massage offerings. Rather than locking you into a single style, these appointments allow your therapist to blend:

  • Swedish massage relaxation techniques
  • TMJ massage
  • Japanese Facial Massage
  • Deep tissue work, as appropriate
  • Hot stones, where helpful
  • Focused attention to specific areas of concern

For clients who prefer gentle pressure or have specific sensitivities, light touch techniques can be incorporated to enhance comfort and relaxation.

Custom massages are available in 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes, so you can choose a shorter tune-up or a full-body, immersive reset.

These sessions are ideal if you’re not sure which specific type you need, or if you like your therapist to adjust techniques as they go based on how your body responds.

Deep Tissue Massage / Sports Massage

For more focused, muscle-specific work, our Deep Tissue/Sports Massage targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. This style can help with:

  • Long-standing tightness in the neck, shoulders, or back
  • Athletic soreness and overuse patterns
  • Reduced range of motion or “stuck” areas

Available in 60, 90, and 120 minutes, this massage emphasizes slow, intentional pressure and targeted techniques rather than simply “pressing harder.” Deep tissue massage uses slow, firm pressure to target the deepest layers of muscle and connective tissue. While some techniques can be painful, massage doesn’t have to be painful to be effective—your therapist will always work within your comfort level, checking in and adjusting as needed.

Bamboo Fusion Massage

Bamboo Fusion Massage uses warmed bamboo tools to deliver deep, gliding pressure along the muscles. The combination of heat and smooth rolling contact allows therapists to:

  • Relax tight, overworked areas
  • Address deeper tension more comfortably
  • Create a rhythmic, flowing feel across the body

Offered in 60- and 90-minute formats, this is a great option if you like deep work but also love the soothing effect of warmth.

TMJ Massage

TMJ Massage at Lavana Connection in Stevensville, MT is a focused treatment designed to address tension in the jaw, face, neck, and upper shoulders. Many people hold stress in these areas due to clenching, grinding, or posture habits.

This specialized massage works along the jawline, cheeks, temples, and neck to help ease muscular tightness and support more comfortable movement. With client consent, gentle intraoral techniques may be used to access deeper jaw muscles.

  • Jaw tightness or clenching
  • Facial tension

  • Tension-related headaches

  • Stress-related discomfort

Each session is customized and may include neck and shoulder work for overall relaxation.

Japanese Facial Massage

Japanese Facial Massage at Lavana Connection is a technique-focused facial treatment designed to ease facial tension and promote a refreshed appearance while offering a calming experience.

The service includes flowing movements across the face, scalp, neck, and décolleté, along with gentle lifting and sculpting techniques. Light pressure point work may also be incorporated.

  • Facial and jaw tension

  • A naturally refreshed look

  • Stress reduction

  • A non-invasive facial experience

This service can be enjoyed on its own or paired with TMJ massage for enhanced relaxation.

Himalayan Salt Stone & Fire and Ice Stone Massage

Lavana Connection offers signature stone massage therapies that pair beautifully with our restorative environment.

Our Himalayan Salt Stone Massage uses gently warmed salt crystal stones to:

  • Reduce stress and muscular tension
  • Support a sense of grounding and nervous-system balance
  • Provide subtle exfoliation for softer, smoother-feeling skin

Many guests appreciate the mineral-rich, gently detox-supportive nature of this massage, as well as its calming effect on sleep and overall relaxation.

Fire and Ice Stone Massage combines alternating warm and chilled stones to:

  • Encourage circulation
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Support recovery and invigorate the body

This therapy can feel both deeply relaxing and surprisingly refreshing, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy temperature contrast and want to support tissue recovery.

Both stone therapeutic massage options are offered in multiple session lengths so the therapy can be as focused or as comprehensive as you like.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, rhythmic technique designed to support the body’s lymphatic system. Instead of deep pressure, your massage therapist uses light, precise movements to help:

  • Reduce fluid retention and puffiness
  • Support natural detoxification pathways
  • Ease a general sense of heaviness or stagnation

This style can be especially supportive after certain procedures, during recovery phases, or when you’re simply feeling sluggish. Because it is more clinical in nature, your massage therapist will review health history and suitability before treatment.

Prenatal Massage

Our Prenatal Massage offers thoughtful, safe support for expectant mothers. Using specialized positioning and pregnancy-appropriate techniques, this massage focuses on:

  • Easing lower back and hip discomfort
  • Reducing swelling or tension in the legs and feet
  • Providing a calming, nurturing reset during pregnancy

Prenatal sessions are available in 60 and 90 minutes. We’ll adjust pillows and bolsters to keep you comfortable at every stage, and we always encourage you to share how your body is feeling as pregnancy progresses.

Anti-Inflammatory Marble Cold Stone Massage

The Anti-Inflammatory Marble Cold Stone Massage uses smooth, chilled stones in targeted areas while you rest on a warm table. This contrast can:

  • Help calm inflamed or overworked tissues
  • Reduce localized swelling and soreness
  • Provide a refreshing, tension-releasing experience

It’s an especially thoughtful option for those with specific inflamed areas, heat intolerance, or post-activity inflammation.

Face, Hands, and Feet Focused Massages

Not every massage needs to be full-body. Lavana offers dedicated Foot Relief and Hand Massage sessions that are perfect for focused care or shorter visits.

The Foot Relief Massage is a 30-minute treatment that:

  • Soothes tired, overworked feet
  • Supports circulation and comfort
  • Leaves your feet feeling lighter and refreshed

It pairs beautifully with Lavana’s foot soaks or vibration foot massage therapy for a more complete lower-leg reset.

The Hand Massage is a 30-minute service focused on:

  • Relieving tension in the hands and forearms
  • Hydrating and gently caring for overused skin and muscles
  • Helping those who type, grip, or use their hands extensively feel more functional and relaxed

Both treatments can stand alone or be added to other services for a head-to-toe experience.

Chair Massage – Quick, Clothed Relief

For guests who are short on time or prefer to remain clothed, our Chair Massage options offer targeted work in a shorter format.

  • Upper Body Reset Chair Massage (20 minutes) focuses on neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, and hands.
  • Complete Reset Chair Massage (30 minutes) adds more detailed work, often including the scalp and additional tension points.

These are ideal for desk workers, busy parents, or anyone who needs a focused reset without committing to a full-length table massage.

Couples Massage

For two people wanting to relax together, our Couples Massage allows you to share the experience in the same room. Available in 60, 90, and 120 minutes, this option:

  • Helps couples, friends, or family members unwind side-by-side
  • Can be customized in pressure and focus for each person
  • Creates a shared, calming experience that’s perfect for special occasions or simply reconnecting

Couples can also explore adding on body masks or other services to create a longer spa retreat.

FAQs

If you’re unsure, a Custom Massage is usually the best place to start. Your massage therapist can blend Swedish, deep tissue, hot stones, and other techniques based on what you share at the beginning of your session. If you have a clear goal—like deeper muscle work, lymphatic support, pregnancy comfort, or stone therapy, you can book a specific style such as Deep Tissue/Sports, Lymphatic Drainage, Prenatal, Himalayan Salt Stone, or Fire and Ice Stone Massage.

Massage benefits go far beyond feeling pampered. Regular sessions can support circulation, ease muscle tension, improve flexibility, and calm the nervous system. Many people also notice better sleep, stress reduction, and a greater sense of overall well-being—these are meaningful benefits, not just “nice extras.”

For table massages, you’ll undress to your comfort level in private. You’ll be fully draped with sheets and/or blankets, with only the area being worked on uncovered at any given time. For chair massage, you remain fully clothed, just choose comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. Your comfort and modesty are always a priority.

Pressure is always adjusted to you. Swedish and relaxation-focused styles generally use lighter to medium pressure, while Deep Tissue/Sports and Bamboo Fusion can go deeper where appropriate. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is intentionally very light by design. Light pressure is especially suitable for individuals with certain health conditions or sensitivities, such as fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome, and can be just as effective for relaxation and pain relief. Your massage therapist will check in and you can ask for “more,” “less,” or “stay right here” at any point in the session.

No. All massages at Lavana Connection are wellness and relaxation services, even when they are therapeutic massage in focus. They can support comfort, mobility, and stress relief, but they do not diagnose or treat medical conditions and are not a replacement for care from your physician, physical therapist, or other medical providers.

Our Prenatal Massage is specifically designed for pregnancy and uses pregnancy-safe positioning and techniques. It can often help with back discomfort, hip tension, and swelling. However, we always recommend checking with your prenatal provider first—especially in early pregnancy or if you have a high-risk pregnancy then sharing any guidance they give you with your massage therapist.

Massage can often help with shoulder pain and other areas of muscular discomfort by releasing tight muscles, improving blood flow, and reducing protective tension patterns. Massage therapy has been studied for its effectiveness in relieving several types of pain, including low back pain, neck and shoulder pain, and headaches. While it is not a medical treatment, many clients experience noticeable pain relief when massage is used consistently alongside appropriate medical or physical therapy care.

Over time, the benefits of massage can include reduced baseline muscle tension, fewer stress-related flare-ups, and improved body awareness—helping you catch issues earlier. By supporting circulation, mobility, and nervous-system regulation, massage becomes part of a broader self-care plan that contributes to meaningful, long-term health benefits.

If you’re unsure, it’s always safest to speak with your medical provider first and let us know about any conditions or changes in your health when you book.
